So where am I right now? Well, 38.994 feet up in the skies! The tail wind is 63 Mph and we are heading to N.Y. What is this entry about? Well my reason for taking the trip over I guess you could say. In fact a dream come true.
Soooo, Guitar World (the worlds biggest guitar mag) have premiered all the vids we’ve made so far from the “Classical Crossover” album! Damian Fanelli (online editor at GW) came across my video for the “Zigeunerweisen” by chance on FB when Laney ( the amp brand I endorse) posted the vid. After the boost from Guitar World, Zigeunerweisen charted as #1 on iTunes Norway, and also made it on the Mexican & Australian charts (I believe), the vid got lots of views quickly and made it into GW’s top viral videos list in 2013 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
After the popularity of the vid, I decided I wanted to do more, so I hooked up with Craig and we made an album. As I said above all of the music vids premiered on GW, with the Paganini vid gathering views quickly catching the attention of both The Guardian’s Tom Service & Classic FM’s John Brunning, making it into GW’s “Top 10 Viral List” of 2014.
With the premiere of “Introduction & Rondo Capriccioso” our album climbed its way into Amazons Best Seller List when it hit #1 on the USA, Amazon Classical chart & simultaneously charted in Easy Listening & miscellaneous.
Needless to say, I’m very grateful for the support and was honoured when I was asked to make some videos for GW, which was my reason for coming to N.Y. As usual I’ve been officially secretive when it comes to what I’m up to, but now I’ll let you guys know that I’ve shot 4 Betcha can’t play this vids, one live play through of Zigeunerweisen with NO Craig just me following him on a backing track….And a commercial for DR Strings 😏😏😏😏😏😏😏😏
A big thank you to Mark Nunez, their video director & Nick. A huge thank you to Jimmy Brown who is their expert on theory, tuning, recording, you name it. No, I do not know theory all of a sudden, Jimmy helped me out by writing the names down of the arpeggios I was playing, etc.. There is a lot of knowledge that resides over at GW, of course , I therefore recommend any of my fans/ readers to check out the GW vids, with the “GW staff” on GW’s YouTube, you will find an insane amount of information there valuable to all players, regardless of level ( I need to learn to tune my guitar by ear 😐). SUBSCRIBE TO GUITAR WORLD’S YOUTUBE HERE: https://www.youtube.com/user/guitarworld Sooo, what does it look like over at GW? Well let’s find out….
That’s their actual studio, the whole “guitar-thing”, well…it’s just a cover up..😁 just kidding. 😆
This is Mark their video director \m/ Very talented & professional \m/ It was great to work with him 💪💪💪💪💪
This is where the epicness of GW is created. A magazine loved by so many. I think a lot of times that people forget how much works that goes into everything in the industry. Wether you go to a magazine, radio station or TV station you’ll find that things are hectic and on a schedule. People tend to see the finished product only, which is a shame.
That’s a portion of Nick. He is part of the video team and is a cool guitarist, from what I could tell \m/ The screen you see there, I guess it’s the screen of doom, reminding GW of their numbers, must be stressing to have that looming over you 😳 I would be totally obsessed with it if I was working there. And that’s a section of Anna who handles advertising \m/
And that is Damian Fanelli, hanging in his dark cave. 😊💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
This is the video department \m/
Thanks again to Damian & GW \m/ \m/ \m/ \m/ \m/
