Stjernekamp & Norway trip, Sit.Rap. October 2015.

Standard

So it’s 4AM and I’m wide awake! So why not blog a little!

My oh my, what a wonderful trip this has been so far!

I came back to Norway a little while a go to do some more filming for the upcoming episode of the Norwegian TV-show “Stjernekamp”.

In case any of you guys missed it; I was asked if I would be interested in being a guest judge and coach on one of Norway’s most popular Saturday Night TV programs!

10 chart topping, established stars come together to compete live on national TV, singing a song in a different genre every week to ultimately crown who is “Norway’s Ultimate Performer”.

When I got asked to be part of this I was very honoured and got very excited indeed!

This is the first year that the metal genre is part of the program! So once again I find myself being part of something new, different and unique \m/ I love it!

In case you guys also missed this; I’m currently preparing and working on an upcoming metal album that will be out before the end of the year.

These are exciting times indeed.

Anyway, in-between my guitar obsession I’ve been prepping myself for this exciting TV-show-adventure \m/

I came to Norway on the 29th last month to shoot an interview where I spoke about the origins and history of heavy metal! this also included some shredding, riffing and an awesome commercial for the episode \m/

I then went back home, tracked some guitars, worked on my stuff, hung out at playgrounds, took care of Commander & non Commander stuff before I was flown back to Norway again, this time to coach these superstars on a selection of metal songs \m/

I have to admit that I was wondering how I would go about it the night before, and was on the phone with MY amazing vocal coach….Elisabeth Hagen, who again was coached by none other than Italian Opera Legend Aida Meneghelli!

Now Aida who sang with Placido Domingo, just to give an example, was trained by Maria Callas’s vocal coach! Talk about a cool story and equally cool connection!

My mother’s teacher was strict, tough as a nail, but my mother, who took lessons every day, 7 days a week, became phenomenally good. In fact such a voice expert that she is indispensable in the studio. Just ask any producer we have ever worked with!

My mother have an incredible vocal register, and had an impressive coloratura repertoire which she mastered like no other.

Jaws dropped, eyes became wet with tears and the critics ink was flying as they wrote their praise. Both in Italy and in Norway. My first stage experience was turning the sheet music for my mothers pianist!

I’ve been quite lucky to have such a vocal expert at my disposition. I have to admit that my mother’s attention to details and her ability to adjust and tune me as a singer is equally impressive as it can be frustrating sometimes, as I strive for perfection.

So naturally I FaceTimed her extensively before I was gonna go and have my first go at coaching someone vocally!

But once I came to the rehearsal place and heard the 1st singer. I knew exactly which tiny adjustments that had to be done for this person to be able to just nail certain “tricky” parts. Just some comments here and there and pang this person blew me of my feet.

This  could be said of all these super stars. They came in one after the other, 5 of the remaining contestants, great voices, great people, and so welcoming when it came to feedback.

It gave me such immense joy to see their happiness and to hear the results of my comments.

How amazing!

You can certainly never be a coach in any field unless others happiness and appreciation makes you profoundly happy!

I loved coaching these extremely gifted and professional people. I enjoyed every second and got so carried away, it is quite humorous to be honest.

And I also figured out that by simply having my mother as a vocal tutor I have become “vocal coach material” myself!

As usual my trip to Norway is a mix of all that is good. Great work and also great company, even tough I miss the presence of my usual travel partner.

This time around I’ve found myself being a guest at family-friend Kjell who is an amazing host!

But this character Kjell and my stay at his house is worthy of an entry on it’s own!

When I thought that my trip over here couldn’t be more enjoyable, EMG decided that they would release another one of my videos that I shot for them during my amazing trip to the U S of A earlier this year!

This is a brand new metal song, that will be featured on my upcoming album, so be sure to check it out!!!! Share and tell your friends!

This is a song that I have written about online trolls, haters & online bullying.

As they say: Haters Gonna Hate, so why not tell them to fuck off in a nice little tune?

If this aggravates any of my haters any further, I shall consider it a success.

Not my problem if people have issues with my being to such an extent that they go crazy.

But anyway 🙂

Maybe I should try to get some sleep as a dear old friend of mine wants some shopping advice in the morning \m/

Nothing beats real life interactions and great conversations!

We humans are social animals after all!

I’ll try to get some sleep \m/

Please keep track of my sites etc! More cool stuff is coming soon and please remember to watch “Stjernekamp” on Saturday, if you live in Norway!
