I’m so excited after tonight’s video shoot that I cannot fall asleep!
I’m pretty sure this is why pubs were invented, for those moments when you are incredibly happy and stoked.
Makes me think of the very first video shoot that I ever did, when I ended up being awake the whole night since I was so high up. I wasn’t celebrating with anyone though, I was just laying on the couch in the living room with the world’s biggest smile ever.
Tonight was another reminder of how incredibly lucky we are to have the sort of gadgets that we have at our disposal. The amount of “things” that you can do on your own is staggering!
I’m incredible grateful for the “family effort” tonight and the fact that I have the immediate family that I have. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
Artists before me didn’t have access to YouTube, so you would only hear of those who obtained publishing/recording deals, people could not record their music without spending a substantial amount of money and there was no way that you could create the sort of videos that people can now make in their living rooms.
As a creative spirit I have to say that it excites me to no end, that it is possible to overcome all sorts of traditional “obstacles” to get your own, original music out there!
Even personal obstacles; such as not knowing how to write notation, can be bypassed! Back in the ancient days of the composers they had no way of recording their music, so they had to know how to write it all down.
I remember my joy when I received a digital camera for Christmas back in 2006, since it enabled me to record my ideas on the spot! I would sit with the camera on my knees, while playing the guitar and signing, so that I could get some “drafts” down whenever an idea emerged!
Likewise I was happy beyond happy when I received an old, worn out, cassette player/recorder, when I first arrived to the U.S.A. as a teenager, since this made it possible for me to record my ideas.
I was the only one of my musician friends who didn’t have any digital recording equipment, so you can imagine my joy when I finally obtained Studio One and a Presonus interface back in 2007/2008. I saved up money to buy it and received an old computer from a relative, which meant that I now had an even better way of documenting ideas as they came to me. Still I had no idea how to use it and was not the musician that I am today. I was also doing a very different style of music. Yet ideas are ideas and have to be plotted down somewhere, before they disappear.
I have lots of butterflies now that “Berit – Vol.1” it’s nearing its completion! And once it is out there, the thank you list will be remarkably short, which will probably make me even more fond of the “product.”
Then again, album one will not be finished unless I get some sleep, on the other hand: what is life without those moments when your are so happy that you don’t even know where to place yourself, what to say, or what to do!
