How To Do Self-Help Right….

“It’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.”            Alice in Wonderland

Do you guys love Disney’s Alice in Wonderland? I love the creativity of the Disney cartoon version, the strange characters, the bizarre story line, etc;

The quote taken from the movie is very suitable for this blog for several different reasons.

What do you do when certain topics trend on your site?

“Oh, you just create more content along those lines” would probably be the obvious answer. Yet when it comes to self-help I’m slightly torn.

I’ve realised that the best self-help that I’ve come across is: prayer, reading The Bible and going to church.

I now look forward to my Sundays when I turn off my gadgets and spend time with my youngest brother building our awesome fortress in Minecraft or attempting to re-create our awesomeness in the real-world via Lego. Just to mention one example.

Yet reviews that I’ve written about self-help books keeps on trending on my site and I’m wondering how to best feed that demand.

Mental training really helped me when it came to dealing with stage-fright specifically. I found it difficult to deal with expectations and denial coming from others when it came to my own talents.

Even though I’m way beyond the technical level of my heavy metal recordings these days thanks to my classical work, I had to deal with people who did not think that I was the one playing the guitar on my own heavy metal recordings when I first started out.

Dealing with this doubt from industry people and knowing that there were those who showed up at my concerts only to see and check whether or not I actually knew how to hold a guitar was very difficult.

As my fingers became faster and faster turning me into a guitar virtuoso the expectations just kept on increasing.

Due to this it was a Godsend that my manager had heard about mental training due to her own interest in sports.

We started applying this to my practise routine and it improved my own experience of playing live dramatically.

The self-help industry though isn’t necessarily geared towards that.

It promises to enhance all aspects of your life, but if you’ve ever read a Bible you’ll probably recognise that a lot of what it is trying to address are issues that religion already has.

You’re not really praying to something outside of yourself though, it is all very much internalised, and this can quite easily evoke a feeling of emptiness.

An alternative doctor who is a good friend of the family revealed to me that it is possible to meditate oneself into a “psychosis” and that excessive meditation might lead to “depression.“

Nobody had ever told me that, nor had I read about this.

I don’t think it will ever harm you to direct your love outwards towards other people or God, but I can in part understand why meditation might lead you down dark alleyways.

Another reason as to why I now feel a bit odd about self-help is that there is no “one-size-fits-all!” So the best way to deal with self-empowerment would be to customise it!

Just like we zoomed in and used mental training for a specific purpose customising this training according to my individual needs, well so do you have to do!

What are you looking to improve and why?

Likewise there are a gazillion different churches with their own worship style and also individuals who considers themselves non-denominational.

The way that I deal with my Bible reading and my prayers will probably differ from how you or anyone else would go about it and apply it to daily life. 🙂

All I can do is to share my own story in the hope that maybe some of it can be applicable, but a great deal of it probably won’t which is why I find books like this: “Seeing What Others Don’t” by Gary Klein – My reaction to Chapter One & a bit of Chapter Two., very suspect.

I’m working my way through the book and still haven’t seen examples being used that can be applied to non-creatives! The majority of the people featured are still scientists with a curious and investigative disposition!

So keep that in mind when the self-help industry promises to dramatically alter not only you but also the outcome of your life. ❤

Globalism vs. Localism & The Rise of Nationalism.

A clear advantage that you’ll have if you’ve been raised internationally is that it gives you the ability to compare different population groups and Nation State Systems.

If there is one thing that is clear to me whenever I look at old entries that I’ve written it is that the challenges faced all over the Western world are largely the same.

When a music publication criticises the current U.S. President in the U.S.A. the Italian counterpart uses the same tone and style towards the current Italian leadership.

When there is a movement to remove statues of historical characters in the U.S.A. you see the same unfolding in the U.K.

When a Norwegian ad is deemed racist in Norway since it features Norwegians and a Norwegian flag you see the same type of activism other places in Europe.

What is interesting though is that the backlash to globalism is localised Nationalism from groups who don’t necessarily seem to realise that we all find ourselves in the same boat…

Nationalism is bad when it is expansionist, when a sense of superiority dictates to such an extent that it justifies waging war and invading everybody else. Take this attitude and couple it with redistribution of wealth and you have a true horror-show next door since said group will have to expand in order to find more loot to “redistribute.“

Nationalism that is non-expansionist though ensures the survival of your Nation, especially if you are non-isolationist and keep your “friends“ close.

France for the French, Italy for the Italians, Norway for the Norwegians and England for the English has become the slogan that a lot of people hold on to these days ignorant of the fact that “the elite“ always intermarried and travelled around Europe as they wished…

Rules do not apply to the super rich. One of their privileges is freedom of movement. This is a privilege extended to those who work for them or those fortunate enough to work for corporations with an international reach.

The major bulk of whatever population group though remains stuck. No movement for them!

If the E.U. did something positive it was to enable liberty of movement to everyone, this was probably done to benefit businesses  but what it meant in practise was that more people had the liberty to pack their bags and simply exit.

This resulted in retired Norwegians moving to Spain where they could get more for their money, lots of Italians moving North to get access to jobs and people from Poland going Westwards all in the name of “pursuit of happiness.“

Of course this started to bother the managers of Nation State systems at a certain point, resulting in legal changes intended towards those who dared to leave.

Benefit recipients in Norway realised that they could have a pool, great food and cheap liquor if they went South!

Norwegians with substantial salaries in Norway realised that they could rent or buy villas if they took their Norwegian oil money with them anywhere else in Europe.

If you are well-off or rich up North there is no end to how you can live down South and as more and more people realised this I imagine that more and more bureaucrats were having nightmares and premature seizures.

All of this liberty resulted in non-elites owning properties all over Europe, moving around the continent on a whim while poor people could actually enjoy themselves and not just struggle.

So far so good? Well, apparently not. Because even though the scenario above might seem like a dream come true to anyone who actually believes in liberty the EU (and the UN) decided for some strange reason to invite everyone else into the European Utopia…

Freedom of movement also meant that if you could get across any border into Europe it would give you access to the entire continent. All of a sudden there were hordes of people doing anything and everything to get to Elysium; the source of all of their aid money, the Utopia in the distance.

Which of course can make one wonder if it was the majority who wanted colonialists out of their territories or whether or not this was the wish of specific elites eager to dominate their own territory?

How do you explain fighting for your independence when the result is mass flight Northwards only some years later?

It goes without saying that Europe cannot hold all of the world since Europe is a relatively small continent compared to other territories and when all of a sudden you end up having security threats all around your territory then how can anyone expect civilians to be quiet?

I think the reason for the current rise in Nationalism in Europe can be blamed on this.

For some weird reason though it is a Nationalism that is localised rather than a continental one, which means ignoring the fact that no European Nation stands alone in the challenges that they are facing and that the E.U. does not equal Europe.

This type of Nationalism rejects everything and anything reverting back to how things used to be when only the elite and the ridiculously wealthy could enjoy certain privileges.

It sounds like a political movement that is simply fed up. It also means that it doesn’t seem capable of actually dealing with the root of the problem which seems to be  international non-State organisations….

What you end up having are atomised Nations convinced that their situation is a uniquely unfortunate one, completely convinced that their situation is particularly bad and than the solution to their problems is: them alone, first, in front of everyone else, rather than a network of Nations facing challenges together.

Because this is the reaction observed all over the Western world I’m not quite sure how things will play out. The challenges are not unique, they are largely the same and if you were raised in an international fashion there is no way that you cannot see that.

What will the future bring? I have no idea but it will probably be bumpy for everyone.

The Enlightened Ones.

The reality of freedom of speech and absolute liberation is something that can only be experienced if you:

  1. Flag your political alignments in the middle of a street surrounded by strangers.
  2. Wear any form of apparel in public with a controversial statement.
  3. Create a profile on the social media site Gab.

The truth is that most of what we perceive as “freedom of speech” is curated. Whether we are looking at published works and opinion pieces or interactions on forums and social media sites.

This in combination with the people who you are exposed to might create an illusion of respect and rationality.

Many would find themselves stunned if exposed to the meaning and implications of liberty since it reveals how incredibly irrational humans are.

Yet, who is to define what is rational or not? And by which standard?

Everyone considers themselves rational and/or righteous regardless of how misguided and lost they are in relation to facts, solid evidence and/or consistent witness accounts.

With that in mind I’ll paste in two of my latest Tweets.

Public Decency.

Home Secretary Sajid Javid.

A good while back I linked to a series of articles where it was said that the U.K. coastal boarder is incredibly weak enabling human trafficking. I listed this article along a great deal of others that described defence weaknesses not only in the UK but also in Norway.

Enter Sajid Javid who as Home Secretary in the UK is sorting out said issue. Upon his appointment there were people on the right who saw this as suspect, I even came across a story, or a theory, that England was now getting closer to becoming a “Caliphate“ due to the position of Home Secretary going to Javid. This is interesting considering that people with the same heritage and lineage betray each other all the time which is something that once again crossed my mind when I saw a ridiculous viral video clip of a White American shouting at another White American due to his Trump t-shirt. The embarrassing “interaction“ was witnessed by a quiet Afro-American bystander who was probably wondering what on earth he found himself in the middle of. I haven’t encountered any English Millennials helping out in the village where I live, for example, in fact it’s only me and I’m not ethnically English….

I would highly recommend reading this book about Norwegian War Criminals: Norway’s Worst Nazis by Bernt Rougthvedt. Of course this doesn’t nullify racism between groups, which I’ve described before, I just think it is most important to point out that things are always multifaceted and not nearly as straightforward and simple as many think. As pointed out in my book review above: German expansionist nationalism was explicitly just that, which is why there was no genuine room for Norwegian nationalists who thought that they could somehow cut a deal with Hitler. The torture and hideous treatment of fellow Norwegians described in the book is not uniquely Norwegian either since there is nothing new about civil-wars and internal issues within a Nation.

After Javid’s latest actions there should be no doubt where is loyalty is, sadly he now appears to be in the receiving end of accusations of racism since he is doing his job. Having access to England is a great, great privilege. He is very right in pointing out that illegal immigrants/asylum seekers pass a great many “safe territories“ before they attempt to enter the UK. It’s good to see that these type of issues are sorted out since they cause a lot of problems long-term unless resolved!

You would think that all of the critics in the media who published the articles that I linked to describing UK’s challenges would now be happy that something is happening.  Here is the Twitter of the UK Home Secretary: Javid on Twitter.

When You Lose Your Headquarter While Fighting A Conventional Enemy….

Lately I’ve been thinking about the political establishment’s fixation on Russia and China. My reason for this is that I imagine that it must be reassuring and good to know that your Nation is in relatively good shape if you are called to fight a foreign State actor elsewhere…

What inspired these thoughts was a short YouTube video I watched from Paul Joseph-Watson where he spoke about the fall of Paris. This was before the yellow-West protests.

There seem to be no willingness to sort out internal turbulence from a great number of political establishments in Europe, who seem more concerned with distracting their enforcement officials with petty, feel-good, political-correctness issues, rather than nipping things in the bud. In addition the mainstream media are in on the hoax as well veiling Europe in a false wrapping of safety where critics are portrayed as merely ill-informed, or as Russian spies, or as racists, or as weird conspiracy theorists.

As it is though, the con-act is unravelling since the instability has grown to such an extent that the de-stabilisation effort can no longer be hidden.

Leaders such as Kurz and Salvini are lone voices of reason displaying the sort of leadership that is necessary in a situation such as this; the only issue is that their actions are contained and would have been more powerful and efficient if they were executed upon the continent as a whole.

The reason as to why I bring up this issue once again is that if the threat and the concerns regarding China and Russia are as severe as Defence officials would want to us to believe, then I dare say that it must be quite “problematic” that we already find ourselves in compromised territorial situations within our own Nation States…

In the case of conventional, State actor-warfare, it could very well might be that our professional fighters are sent out to confront a traditional enemy, while their home territory (that has already been compromised) fall to imported and/or native insurgents; the insurgents might even strike a deal with the more conventional enemies so that our own fighters find themselves locked-in and surrounded.

It will require quite the genius to first defeat the Chinese and the Russians, only to head back home to another battlefield. In fact it very well might be that there will be no home to come back to at all.

Not to mention that the main battle could easily be sabotaged if your headquarter falls.

This means that regardless of how one chooses to think and regardless of what might be on top of one’s priority list, the destabilisation of Europe and of America cannot be brushed under the carpet any longer.

It is a bi-partisan issue that transcends all and everything. It simply has to deal with the survival of our tribes and cultures.

The fact that we have to wait in anticipation to see whether elections grant us the leadership required to tackle our current continental crisis is nothing but tragic.

If a continental decision could be made it would be in everyone’s interest, after all it must compromise NATO’s efficiency and operational ability that so many of its member Nations finds themselves in such an unfortunate internal predicament.

And if it doesn’t compromise the preparations that these countries are currently undertaking in preparation for any potential future conventional war efforts, then it probably will once the fighting starts.

If you have no control now, then what makes you think that you will under such circumstances as described above; especially since our militaries are professional, which means that “life-will-go-on-as-usual” for the vast majority of the population, who at this point in time stand face to face with threats that our current enforcement establishments have either no desire to solve or even worse: no ability to solve.

In other words; even if your main concerns are Russia and China it cannot be ignored that the current political situation in the U.S.A. & Europe poses a fundamental threat to any future victories.

You will need your country to be there for you so that you can fight for your country; yet what makes you think that it will if you gaze upon the current internal landscape?

Women Have Always Been Working.

A good while back when I was busy doing my “kitchen duty“  my sister entered the apartment fresh from work. After greeting her and re-focusing on whatever pot and pans I was in the middle of cleaning it dawned upon me how women have always been working whether they were paid for it or not.

The ones who were exempt from this were women born into financial privilege who’s main duty was to give birth to an heir and/or marry well.

Ironically enough it is these women who today are given credit for “liberating all women“ out into the work-place since women were allegedly “chained to the kitchen.“

This is how female liberation is popularly portrayed, completely ignoring all of the generations of women born into slavery, born into servitude, born into low-income occupations, etc;

Not to forget how vulnerable those women must have been socially, since they brought dishonour upon their families or themselves if they became involuntarily pregnant with a “bastard.“ Becoming pregnant as the result of rape or being abandoned by a husband must surely have spelled personal ruin and disaster for women already born into difficult circumstances.

Women working is depicted as something unique to our modern times, with academics/writers falsely pretending that women actually had a choice not to work before.

This is an awkward detail to note, since socialists and those advocating for egalitarianism are the ones who push this myth; you would think that they would be more interested in speaking about the age-long history of poverty rather than pushing fairytales.

I guess that women born into privilege wanted access to the power that their fathers, brothers and husbands had and that some were not satisfied with managing large households and families, they certainly had time on their hands to push for political changes.

They decided to rebel for their own in-group, since they wanted to land whatever high-income job and/or gain influence, while working class women and poor women were already working since they had no other choice … some of these poor women were probably “chained to the kitchen“ of their wealthy female employers.

I sincerely doubt that the suffragettes (just to pick one female advocacy group) wanted to scrub floors and empty trash since these were unglamorous occupations already done by lower class people.

Visiting any huge castle or property in Europe will always mention “the kitchens“ and all of the workers who were hard at work in these quarters. Female “cooks,“ “nannies,“ and “teachers“  are all roles that are mentioned, even women breast feeding children born to their mistresses.

It is a bluff that the feminist movement was liberating for all, since women born into a low socio-economic status were already hard at work.

Women had been working for generations and still are today.

The industrial revolution “liberated“ these already underprivileged women further by placing them into the factories.

Poor people have always had it hard – “upper class feminist liberation“ did not change that, what everyone gained was the vote.

The Greatest Weapon Of All.

A few weeks back I was hanging out with my youngest sibling when I ended up reading about Dinosaurs.

The thought that came through my mind once I was done looking at the illustrations (where one section was mentioning herbivores while the other was mentioning carnivores), was that the old reptiles were slightly luckier than us when it came to identifying the predators among them…

With humans this is not that easy, which is why murderers and delinquents can blend in and hide among those who would fall under the “prey category.”

While I was laying there thinking about this it dawned upon me how dangerous we humans are as apex-predators, which is precisely what we are.

I thought back at certain moments in time when I observed my fellow humans ranting.

Rage, unhinged, unleashed, uncompromising, catapulted into whatever room, with no concern or thought about how this might affect the overall atmosphere.

The catalyst for these cracks in whatever docile facade were almost always: the news.

One person once declared loudly and clearly that a certain politician deserved the bullet, countless people have ranted out into the empty air when they’ve heard the news of children suffering, and the list could go on.

What these outbursts had  in common was that they were the result of information being plotted into the human operational system.

By who?

By the news, who can be seen as “the programmers” in our societies.

The same can be said of a great deal of other things as well, but it is mainly the news, and the sound of a headline, that will generally get an instant, loud, angry, reaction.

What’s interesting is that “the emotional system” is a global one (unless you fall into the psychopath category) which means that people all over the world are prone to this.

What happens then when we are fed wrong or misleading information?

“Weaponised humans,” awakened as a result of their natural emotional wiring being triggered; acting out acts of violence, in the false belief that they are indeed fighting “evil,” must surely be one of the greatest issues with human behaviour generally speaking.

If you’ve ever followed real-life crime series then you’ll probably be aware of cases where the murderer thought of themselves as very reasoned in their actions, only to find out later that they were quite misguided, not just in killing another human, but killing the wrong person or doing it based on wrong information and/or assumptions.

The latent-apex-predator-type (such as people ranting at the news) is also visible when observing and/or experiencing people’s reactions to artists and people with a public profile. It is perfectly normal to all of a sudden find oneself in the receiving end of hate, not because you’ve done something stupid or said something stupid, but because of what you represent.

The irony is of course that you might not even know that you represent anything at all, yet that doesn’t nullify that you will to someone else.

It is also of interest to note that war-crimes and abuse within political systems are usually blamed on the political system and the situation itself, rather than airing the theory or viewpoint, that this might be how certain humans behave when given the chance!

As I’ve said before it is rather murky to talk about bad guys versus good guys, since humans have a tendency to see themselves and their in-group as inherently, and uniquely heroic.

People justify their actions to themselves and to the rest of the world, even if the action cannot be justified.

In many ways it can be said that we are the greatest weapon of all, but a lot of this I’m sure has to deal with lack of self-awareness and taking things at face-value, such as “the news.”
