NEW VIDEO!

Standard

Today my manager and I decided to share some behind the scenes LIVE footage with my fans & followers. This footage is from “the secret project” that I was being all mysterious about back in 2016. I was really excited to be doing this, working with some cool people from a serious label; but sadly fell ill with a vicious parasite infection. In addition I also got a shoulder injury in February 2017; so it felt really refreshing to find this video footage and see for myself the form that I was in! It has taken me over a year to finally be well again ๐Ÿ˜ฎ It was a major breakthrough when I finally had full movement in my arm, so I’m super stoked to finally be recording and playing again!

You can hear a preview of what I’m currently working on if you sign up to my Patreon page; below you can see the behind the scenes footage from my 3rd session with classical crossover! Thanks a lot to those of you who support what I do!

I LOVE to play guitar.

Standard

Yes it might not come as a mega-surprise, but seriously, I really love what I do. Profoundly.

Just finished my playing routine, going thru all the tracks from my classical album and also some of my riffs. All of those riffs feel easy to play in comparison to the violin virtuoso material, funny enough.

Once upon a time these songs represented my technical limit, which I now find a bit funny. I mean, technicality aside I still like those melodies of mine, but it is certainly not challenging to play those songs anymore.

I’ve now embarked on a brand new virtuoso piece, I just couldn’t help it.

I won’t tell anyone what sort of ludicrous project I’ve embarked on now, but I can reveal that it is again quite unique.

The feeling of your fingers flying over the fretboard, knowing exactly where they are supposed to land next, always one step ahead, ย combined with the memory used to its fullest force, is literally priceless.

If you cannot find joy in the art of just playing and mastering your instrument you are seriously doing something wrong.

I know. That I Love.

That I LOVE. What I do.

Let me repeat.

I adore what I do.

2015- The year in review.

Standard

2015 was a year with great contrasts to put it mildly. On one hand things were looking perky professionally while things were looking more like Ragnarok privately. These are the highlights from the year that is soon over. I got my fingers crossed that next year will either be as good as this professionally or hopefully even better! As long as it doesn’t get worse I’m happy!

First up: ” My 10 Most Awesome Moments” in 2015.

1- In January I had the great honour of being in the jury of the Norwegian Grammys in the Metal category! I missed out on the red carpet and as I went all alone I didn’t get any pics but it was still awesome to be part of such a gigantic industry event, especially as an unsigned artist ๐Ÿ™‚

2- Later in January I attended the NAMM show for my second year in a row! This year I preformed for the first time as well, last year I only signed autographs. I also had the great honour of performingย “Dee” at the Randy Rhoades Remembered tribute something I was very thankful for ๐Ÿ™‚ This was the first time I ever shared the stage with established rockstars and my first time on a stage in the US of A. Thanks again to Brian Tichy for being awesome! I also attended my first red-carpet event in LA as I attended the ” She Rocks Awards” ๐Ÿ™‚ It was an awesome experience!

3- My original song “Let It Go” from my “Classical Crossover Album” received national radio play on BBC6 ๐Ÿ™‚ This was something I had never experienced before! I’m still excited about it ๐Ÿ™‚

4-My YouTube channel reached a million views ๐Ÿ˜€

IMG_1941

5- My album charted in March as number 1 on the Amazon Classical chart! This was something that nearly killed me of joy! My dream has always been to sell music but when stuff like this happens it is always overwhelming ๐Ÿ™‚ The album kept on bouncing in and out of the charts for the rest of the year ๐Ÿ™‚

Screen Shot 2015-03-24 at 00.42.51

6- I got invited to Guitar World Magazine to shoot “Betcha Can’t Play This” videos for them. As the first Norwegian and the first European woman to ever do so. Only two other female guitarists have ever shot videos exclusively for GW’s YouTube channel ๐Ÿ˜ฎ How crazy is that? ย As I was in the USA I also took the trip over to California to shoot videos for EMGtv ๐Ÿ˜‰ I shot 11 videos in total! Doing 5 live videos of my Metal music over at EMG & 6 videos over at Guitar World, which included 4 Betcha Can’t play This from the classical Crossover Album, One Play Through & My first commercial for a brand. During my US trip I also played my very first US gig ๐Ÿ™‚

7-I did my first Live performance on a radio over at Dacorum Radio!

8- I landed a killer spot on Norway’s number one Saturday night’s TV Show “Stjernekamp” ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s a brilliant concept where established stars compete each weekend by performing a song each, in a different genre every Saturday. The concept has become a massive hit. I was there as an expert judge and coach in the Metal genre. This was the first time that the genre was included into the program and it honestly was a killer show ๐Ÿ™‚ It was without a doubt one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had to be part of such a massive production and give masterclasses to some of Norway’s finest performers ๐Ÿ˜‰ I truly had the time of my life and would love to do more TV ;):)

9- My debut album in metal is done and ready to be released next year.

10- I’ve written a 3rd album ๐Ÿ™‚ A mystery album that I’m very excited about ๐Ÿ™‚

My most popular YouTube video this year was my live video for “Evolution” that was released by EMG’s YouTube channel.

My most popular vid released on my own channel, was my version of the incredible masterpiece ” Introduction & Rondo Capriccioso” which is my favourite music video of the ones we have released so far.

In terms of my personal YouTube favourite, I have to say that I’m very happy with my two latest vids as I feel that they really showcase my singing, especially my version of Disney’s ” Once Upon A Dream” from Sleeping Beauty.

Facebook remains my number one marketing tool. This year I signed up for Snapchat ( something I rarely use), Vine ( which I’m not able to get to work) & I’m still on Twitter, even though I’ve never really been a huge Tweet-fan.

This year I started a written blog after people had been suggesting it for years. I posted my first entry in February and started posting regularly the following month, out of 94 blog entries ( including some re-blogs) here are the ones that were my most popular entries. Here are my ” Top 10 Blog Posts Of 2015″.

1)- My most popular entry this year was my “anxiety” & ” OCD” entry. After reading it again I have to admit that it was spot on. I don’t regret writing it even though it was difficult.ย I have a tiny problem.

img_3673

2)- My second most viewed blog entry was the one about acne and image ย whenย you are a female artist.

IMG_1906

3)- My “20 practise tips” entryย was the only one of my 5 ” 10 year Guitar Anniversary” entries to make the list. If you play an instrument I recommend checking it out.

4)- An hilarious entry poking fun at my experience with session musicians in the UK. Behold ” 22 hopeless musicians ( when you are a solo artist)ย

008TER_Rainn_Wilson_002

5)- I posted this on my birthday to poke some fun at myself. Here areย 21 Reasons I Suck!

6)- A Year in Selfiesย a recap of my first year on Instagram. Here are my 38 selfies.

image

7)- Here I trolled my fans a bit. I didn’t reveal in the title what this entry was about. And in fact I won’t do it here either. You can click hereย to check out what it is ๐Ÿ˜›

image

8)- Crazy Fans!ย That’sย right. I’ve had my share of creepy experiences and decided to share some freaky stories.

horor_v

9)- 5 Horrible Peopleย Whoever likes to play God over other people is a scum bag.

10)- This was an entry about me getting back into virtuoso shapeย and how hard it is to play classical violin virtuoso music on the electric guitar.

IMG_1776

My personal favourite entries differ a bit from my most popular posts, here are the 5 entries I’m the most happy with.

1)- I think this is one of the most well written pieces I’ve written. Here I compared Orwell’s 1984 to Huxley’s Brave New World.1984 vs. Brave New World

image

2)- My take on annoying everyday robotsย that we all gotta deal with.

image

3)- The Underestimated Beauty Of Life

IMG_1171

4)- This was a commentary I wrote inspired by a blog entry over at That Metal Show’s FB. This entry is about controversies surrounding the metal scene.

To be or not to be METAL

5)- The Art Of Self Expressionย I hate passive aggressive behaviour. If you wanna talk to someone, do it. If you got a problem with someone, say it.

IMG_5805

To round-up my annual recap I wasย gonna make a top 10 list over my most popular Instagram posts, that’s when I figured that there was a site that compile your top 9 posts for you.

My first pic to get a 100 likes was a professional pic of me in uniform with my guitar. Out of all the pics I posted on Instagram this year it is my professionally shot guitarists pics that really became popular as well as mini-vids of me playing, let’s not forget my Star Wars pics, so maybe I should get into cosplaying ๐Ÿ˜›

image

My personal favourites were pictures of things related to me rather than pictures of me, so my personal top 9 would have looked slightly different.

All in all it was a creative year. I also had 2 trips to the US, travelling all by myself, I also had several trips to Norway.

I was lucky to be lent quite an amazing apartment right on Central Park in New York, I got the rockstar treatment in California as well as in Oslo. I experienced being a guest in Norway’s most exclusive neighbourhood and was also a guest at a proper Cotswolds estate in the UK. Personally speaking these were highlights and obviously I wouldn’t mind having the life of a rockstar 24/7 ๐Ÿ˜›

This was my 95th entry and my last one for this year.

Take care people & have a Happy New Year!

Fingers crossed next year will be full of positive experiences!

Cheers!

Ever since I came back from Norway I’ve been busy finishing my first metal album \m/

I’ve had my first “charting success” with my classical music so I don’t know what to expect with my metal music, but I hope it will be well-received sales-wise. I’ve experienced a lot of awesome stuff with my metal, but it never officially charted and my first song to really go viral, (like past the 100k mark on YouTube) was my version of the violin piece “Zigeunerweisen”, that vid was spreading like a disease online. A piece of classical music written for violin virtuosos never before played on the guitar! So it will be interesting to see what will happened when we release the first video for my metal record! My metal music has always been selling (even though it hasn’t officially charted) and my ย “limited-edition” physical metal Demo’s have been selling this year too, so I have my fingers crossed for another charting album, because it would just feel so awesome and so victorious to see my original music reaching an Amazon-charting position + that I’m an independent artist, so buy my art folks! You can buy it here ๐Ÿ˜› mwha-haย My Store!!!!

Track-Track-Tra-ack…

What you see here is part of what I worked on yesterday, which was tracking 4 takes ( no punch in btw ) all the way through making it sound like one #guitar with the @audixmics #i5. Whenever there was something I didn't like in the take, I did it all over again. I figured it was wise to break it in the middle to tune, as the song is pretty heavy on the low B and this string can easily go out of tune especially when you are tracking with a tremolo system. The little portions of sound you see are chords played an octave higher in the choruses to make it bigger sounding & some harmonies in the middle eight section. Today I changed the position of the amp entirely to track 4 other type of takes with 3 mics capturing completely different parts of the amp. Thats the pile you see there. You can just imagine the amount of tracks, also I haven't named things correctly yet ๐Ÿ˜› When I'm done tracking with the good old tube amp, I'll track another set of guitars, this time with plugins so that there will be a wide range of options for tone ๐Ÿ˜ฏ #presonus #presonusstudioone #studioone #tracking #guitartracking #trackingguitar #guitar #guitarist #recording

Seriously…I took a break today from my metal-album in the works to re-visit “Zigeunerweisen” & “Introduction & Rondo Capriccioso” and O-M-G do I love this material.

It’s so cool to be able to play this kinda stuff it’s really hard to describe it.It makes me so happy whenever I play this, it’s so intriguing and it makes me so happy when I get it right. I don’t think anything else can compare.

I so wanna do more live gigs with this kinda stuff. It is so much cooler to do the classical guitar meets electric guitar concept, waaaaay cooler than the metal ๐Ÿ˜› ha-ha

This is so fucking cool.

This is even cooler. Like, this is my favourite piece to play. I love this so much!

Fun,fun,fun

check out the tango….hmmm…that’s me folks \m/

Guitar World ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

Standard

So where am I right now? Well, 38.994 feet up in the skies! The tail wind is 63 Mph and we are heading to N.Y. What is this entry about? Well my reason for taking the trip over ย I guess you could say. In fact a dream come true.

Soooo, Guitar World (the worlds biggest guitar mag) have premiered all the vids we’ve made so far from the “Classical Crossover” album! Damian Fanelli (online editor at GW) came across my video for the “Zigeunerweisen” by chance on FB when Laney ( the amp brand I endorse) posted the vid. After the boost from Guitar World, Zigeunerweisen charted as #1 on iTunes Norway, and also made it on the Mexican & Australian charts (I believe), the vid got lots of views quickly and made it into GW’s top viral videos list in 2013 ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

After the popularity of the vid, I decided I wanted to do more, so I hooked up with Craig and we made an album. As I said above all of the music vids premiered on GW, with the Paganini vid gathering views quickly catching the attention of both The Guardian’s Tom Service & Classic FM’s John Brunning, making it into GW’s “Top 10 Viral List” of 2014.

With the premiere of “Introduction & Rondo Capriccioso” our album climbed its way into Amazons Best Seller List when it hit #1 on the USA, Amazon Classical chart & simultaneously charted in Easy Listening & miscellaneous.

Needless to say, I’m very grateful for the support and was honoured when I was asked to make some videos for GW, which was my reason for coming to N.Y. As usual I’ve been officially secretive when it comes to what I’m up to, but now I’ll let you guys know that I’ve shot 4 Betcha can’t play this vids, one live play through of Zigeunerweisen with NO Craig just me following him on a backing track….And a commercial for DR Strings ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

A big thank you to Mark Nunez, their video director & Nick. A huge thank you to Jimmy Brown who is their expert on theory, tuning, recording, you name it. No, I do not know theory all of a sudden, Jimmy helped me out by writing the names down of the arpeggios I was playing, etc.. There is a lot of knowledge that resides over at GW, of courseย , I therefore recommend any of my fans/ readers to check out the GW vids, with the “GW staff” on GW’s YouTube, you will find an insane amount of information there valuable to all players, regardless of level ( I need to learn to tune my guitar by ear ๐Ÿ˜). SUBSCRIBE TO GUITAR WORLD’S YOUTUBE HERE:ย https://www.youtube.com/user/guitarworld Sooo, what does it look like over at GW? Well let’s find out….

image

That’s their actual studio, the whole “guitar-thing”, well…it’s just a cover up..๐Ÿ˜ just kidding. ๐Ÿ˜†

image

This is Mark their video director \m/ Very talented & professional \m/ It was great to work with him ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ’ช

image

This is where the epicness of GW is created. A magazine loved by so many. I think a lot of times that people forget how much works that goes into everything in the industry. Wether you go to a magazine, radio station or TV station you’ll find that things are hectic and on a schedule. People tend to see the finished product only, which is a shame.

image

That’s a portion of Nick. He is part of the video team and is a cool guitarist, from what I could tell \m/ The screen you see there, I guess it’s the screen of doom, reminding GW of their numbers, must be stressing to have that looming over you ๐Ÿ˜ณ I would be totally obsessed with it if I was working there. And that’s a section of Anna who handles advertising \m/
