Summer.

Standard

It’s so nice when the weather is good and the sun actually provides warmth ๐Ÿ˜›

Seems to me like the sun is just for show in these parts ๐Ÿ˜€

Today I’ve been practising for the fundraising concert I’m doing for one of the local churches.

I’m a bit overwhelmed by my 3rd album, since there is so much happening musically in there. I’ve now decided to add even more to it, and I’ve also had some new ideas with more parts that I want to add on things I’ve already recorded…

(You can support what I’m doing here: My Patreon)…

Creativity and having lots of ideas can be very overwhelming at times.

I have lots of ideas for illustrated books as well, there’s no end…

It is interesting how someone like Jordan B.Peterson is running around the world preaching to people that they need to clean up their rooms and react to things properly, I wonder what his take on creativity would be?

Creative individuals write and create when they are upset, which means that they don’t really sort out the source of what makes them upset a lot of times. Creatives are also notorious for never cleaning their room or atelier as well ๐Ÿ˜›

Apparently you should clean up your room before you can save the world or create something ๐Ÿ˜›

Reminds me of this guitar expert I tried to take lessons from ages ago who claimed that: “you can only create if you know all the theory and techniques out there;” which is probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard in my life, not to forget this one:”If someone tells you what to create, then you’ll be super productive.” Needless to say, we didn’t see eye to eye….Creativity should never be boxed in or know limitations, unless you are working on something that is “made to order” or whatever, creativity is like water, it is all over the place, and if it is dammed up it will just explode at one point or the other. You might experience tsunamis of creativity. I normally work on multiple songs simultaneously in different genres…

Anyway….

Here are some pictures of me doing nothing…..

I’m guessing this is awesome, since blogging about nothing makes you cool.

The Return Of My Video-Blog.

Standard

Yes, you read that right. A while back my brother suggested that I should get myself a video blog, so off I went and made a couple of episodes, thinking to myself that it would be very easy.

People liked the blogs, but I was amazed at how time-consuming it actually was, so the video blog idea was abandoned for a while. However after blogging here on wordpress since last year, I felt like it would be cool to start vlogging again. This time I’ll commit myself to one episode pr.month and I’ll let my subscribers run the show a bit, by letting their questions etc, decide what the next episode should be about.

I will prefer if the blogs don’t contain live music, as it takes time to actually sync a recording with your fingers if you record it properly. It took me quite some attempts to shoot my latest video actually, as I first shot it with webcam, and my manager hated that my bed was visible behind me ( also there was some strange sync-issues going on with the sound :/), so then I shot it a second time in another room, but the lighting was horrible and half my head was missing ๐Ÿ˜› Then I shot it a last time, thinking to myself, ok…how hard can this really be?

Now after uploading my “songwriting” blog I realise that the acoustics make the room “unsuitable” for vlogs/talking unless I get a microphone ๐Ÿ˜› So much for that!

You can still hear what I’m saying though, so please check out my songwriting blog and feel free to come with suggestions in the comment section for what my next episode should be about :):)

21 Reasons I Rock \m/

Standard

Sooo, I’ve made fun of myself, made a list of my shortcomings, complained about my Mr.Bean moments, drenched by blog in self-deprecating humour….so maybe it’s time to give myself some praise and write why I rock \m/ If I could find “21 reasons” as to why I suck, I’m sure I can find 21 reasons to be happy, 21 things that are positive about myself.

Oprah Winfrey apparently used to say that everyday you should think of 3 things that makes you happy, so when I grew up my mom would ask us around the dinner table “What are you happy about today?”. This was something I brought with me wherever I went apparently….something I find quite sweet ๐Ÿ™‚

So what are you happy about today? And why do you rock?

As self-educating and eye-opening it can be to write about your stinkers, take some time to write or think to yourself ย about why YOU are awesome \m/

I shall give it a go ๐Ÿ˜›

1- I care about what happens in the world and gave away all the money I got for my 18th birthday to an organisation that protects wild life ๐Ÿ˜› I’ve never repeated extreme charity such as that, as I need to live too, but the bottom line is, that I believe that we should all help others. Not in order to increase our popularity, but because it is what is right. I’m also an Amnesty International Member and have been so for years. I was trying to raise awareness about Darfur when I went to high school among other things, but didn’t have much luck. I started a zine with a friend of mine when I was a teen that was supposed to raise awareness concerning social injustice where we lived in our local area. We didn’t have much luck with that either. I almost went to India to do charity work when I was in my late teens but ended up not being able to go.

nhh1

2- I’m always there for my friends and family. At the end of the day I’m very loyal and ย I love to surprise people!

12063855_1019414851431241_5105748434631753008_n

3-Dedication. I had to learn how to speak Italian when I was six as my family moved to a foreign country. I also had to wrap my head around French when my family lived in France for a year and I also had to teach myself English as I went to high school in America :0 When I started playing guitar I would use an English-Norwegian dictionary to figure out the explanations in guitar magazines since my English sucked ๐Ÿ˜›

4-Humble. That’s right! Why else would I put myself in the situation of “student” again, when learning classical music on the guitar ๐Ÿ˜‰ I was already an internationally acclaimed musician, but I never let this get to my head as I believe that this will stifle your growth as a musician. I feel lucky that I always get feedback and constructive criticism about my performances and/or writing. This way I keep on growing.

5-I’m flexible and therefore have a good reputation when it comes to working with others in a studio setting for example. I’m as far as you could possibly get from being a dictator. I believe you will only shoot yourself in the foot if you don’t listen to others.

399093_359457250760341_396496863_n

6-I write my own music. That’s right. I’ve always been insanely creative. I always wanted to be a songwriter and even though I gave up a couple of times as a kid, I always came back to it.

12034324_1020750147964378_6650678031821244171_o

7-I can sing opera ๐Ÿ˜› I’m classically trained and even though I’m not done with my opera education I’m really proud of what I can do already and excited about what I will be able to master one day ๐Ÿ™‚

8-I taught myself how to play the guitar ๐Ÿ˜‰ That’s right! I didn’t get guitar lessons until I was working on “artist-development” in L.A. ๐Ÿ™‚

549178_506611322711599_234090903_n

9-I had my first art exhibition when I was 13 ๐Ÿ˜› I didn’t sell a single picture :/ but whatever, the bottom line is that I did it ๐Ÿ˜›

10-I had something that I had written published by a newspaper when I was 17. This was my first go at writing. I had to have a guitar break as my hand was all messed up after too much playing.

11-I used to draw fashion drawings. I wanted to be a designer. That was my dream from I was 6 years old. I kept on switching between wanting to be an archeologist and dreaming of owning my own “fashion house”.

1621813_289553277874469_1861343502201612894_n10245289_289553204541143_2351507536263325394_n 10013843_289553151207815_4521463671566816381_n 10007459_289553317874465_5056979423645525444_n

12-Even though my visual arts is in the shadow of my music, I love to draw and this is what I’ve done the longest. I evenย ย wrote and illustrated a children’s book. I have plenty of other quirky characters I’ve come up with as I love “designing” characters, if there ever was such a word. If I wasn’t a musician it would have been cool to to have an arts degree and create graphic novels or maybe story boards for movies.

13-I co-direct my music videos as I “see my music ” when I write it.

1236019_594843657221698_1597387068_n-2

14-I did theater once and loved it. That was the moment I figured that I wanted to be a performer.I love to play the “villain” or be “crazy”.

857814_517166914989373_2137383954_o

15- When I was a kid I was a goalie \m/

16- I also used to do Marshall Arts!

17-When I was 11 I got my first “studded” belt with proper nails, not the flat plastic ones ๐Ÿ˜› ย So no wonder that my current purse looks like this \m/

11182266_919934818045912_961047159068915041_n

18- I love to read and have always been a book-worm ๐Ÿ˜›

19- I always wanted a Doberman called Lucius and a Westie called Truffles. I don’t have either but I have a bearded Dragon I’ve named after Severus Snape. I would also like to have a white bunny, who I would probably name Draco ๐Ÿ˜› I always wanted to own a snake, but after holding several different types I was shocked to see how strong they are, snakes aren’t very social either and try to hide away and escape. I figured that snakes probably aren’t that keen on “being owned” by anyone.

This is my guy \m/

This is my guy \m/

20- I have a very varied taste when it comes to music and there are plenty of things that interest me that have nothing to do with show-biz. I’m obsessed with space for example.

21- My hair looks like this. I cut it short in 2005 and coloured it green ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I decided to let it grow to see how long it could possibly get! I’m still curious to see how far down it will go \m/

When you’ve been living in the UK for way too long, you re-create the “meal-deal” when you are abroad ๐Ÿ˜› See what I mean?

IMG_0130

When my stay was over at the hotel, I had the most amazing host ever. An old family friend of ours called Kjell. A former business man, he told me of all of his adventures from doing business in Africa, to being a ski instructor in California, from being a teacher, to working at a hospital being in charge of a number of exciting things. He told of fist fights with a gang in America, hunting trips to the Balkans next to what would become Tito’s hunting lodge and a scandalous, headline grabbing news story involving a sea plane and a police officer who decided to hang onto one of the floats on said plane, as he was trying to catch the pilot ( a friend of Kjell), who had been shooting whatever deer he could find, which is illegal ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

A very entertaining stay indeed, I had the time of my life. Here you got Kjell, a real life “Indiana Jones” type of character, a proper adventurer \m/

IMG_0183 IMG_0182 IMG_0172

If you are ever making Mussels….I’ll help you out a little…

First, you gotta sort them out. Any mussel that is open already from the store you gotta throw away.

IMG_0194

Then you gotta “steam” them. Which means that you need a steam cooker!

IMG_0202 IMG_0204

If a Mussel doesn’t open up after steaming, you have to dispose of it. Steam them until they open up and have a nice orang-y colour.

Then you are ready to dive in ๐Ÿ™‚

I don’t know if you can find his work in English, if you can’t you should learn Norwegian so you can read this ๐Ÿ˜›

Yes, here is a picture of something seriously mundane. A dishwasher. But I had never seen anything like it and loved that you put your cutlery up there in stead. Apparently it makes your forks & knifes cleaner. So there, I learned something new.

IMG_0225

Hmmmm…..no Cecil the Lion? I used to sleep on top of that Canadian Bear when I was a kid, I would sleepover in the room where all the hunting rifles were. It made quite an impression on me as a child.

IMG_0230

Whenever I was in Norway as a child I always felt that there was a Moose head staring at me. Seriously, there was always a moose head or a reindeer head hanging somewhere when you went to a house.

I remember I saw my “uncle” cut up a Moose once, Jesuuus, poor thing.

There was always a spinning wheel to be found somewhere as well….

This Ladies & Gentlemen is a proper Norwegian mountain tunnel. I was so fascinated that I took a gazillion pictures and even some films. It’s so tight that only one car can drive at the time, meaning…you got some “pockets” on the side of this…ehm…road..where you can go if you encounter any traffic in the non-existent other lane.

This was very cool though. Notice how you are truly in a cave. Hardly any smooth lines.

IMG_0898

We went for a picturesque drive to check out “Offerdalen” which directly translated, if you were to be creative, sounds more like ” The Valley Of Sacrifice”… sounds very Viking-ish to me!

That is a very Norwegian looking farm btw, that’s the style.

IMG_0928 IMG_0989 IMG_0982 IMG_0980 IMG_0968 IMG_0967 IMG_0964 IMG_0957 IMG_0953 IMG_0951 IMG_0949 (1) IMG_0931

Here they would cut up trees…or would that be timber? Not quite sure how to explain it, but this is old and out of use obviously. They cut down the trees in the forest and sent the wood down the stream and that eventually led the trees here, where they were cut up. These buildings are a fine example of Norwegian heritage when it comes to old buildings and how things were once upon a time.

IMG_0994 IMG_1016 IMG_1008 IMG_1001 IMG_0998

The water is so clean that you could actually drink right out from the stream. I was so tempted but I didn’t dare…I was afraid of catching an infection or something, so silly. If I ever go there again I’ll give it a go.

IMG_1044 IMG_1042

Dad & me.

IMG_1041

This Ladies & Gentlemen is a Norwegian “ute do” ( outside toilet)

It’s obviously the ancient version of toilet. But for some strange reason there is this Norwegian tradition that you should keep a cabin up in the mountains, this cabin should preferably have no water ( so you will have to go and pump it out from somewhere or collect rain water) and to stay true to tradition this cabin should also include the “iconic” “outside-toilet”. So when I was a kid, believe it or not, I also had the privilege of experiencing the “ute do”. I don’t think it is that common anymore now. But here you got one.

Some information…We had an ancient Stabbur when I was little, in fact we had two. And we also had a house where one half was modern and the other half was really, really old, with a “Grue” which is a fireplace you put a cauldron in & stand upright in…and there was also grass on the ceiling. So pretty, so romantic.
